Kingston Swim Camp 2012 – Tulliallan

So this year we swapped the rain soaked shores of Dunoon for the police barracks in Tulliallan. After the success of last year we decided to open it up to the whole second session, taking 35 swimmers in total. Needless to say everyone had a blast.

Tulliallan 2012

With 4 pool sessions in 3 days, the main focus was for the camp to be a concentrated stroke camp. Making sure all strokes were perfect for the competitions coming up and for the year to come. It’s also a good opportunity for the coaches to get to know the swimmers better.

As last year, the club captains, Bex Burns, Jamie Carroll, Hannah Paterson and Calvin Molinari put on a fancy dress party. There was some funny sights and some great effort put into the outfits. They also put on a Disney quiz which, was a tie between Paul and myself (Rob). Well done to Paul’s team for winning the tie breaker. (Sadly the self proclaimed champ of Disney(Lisa) came last lol)

A huge well done has to be aimed at Olivia Storey. Her dedication throughout the weekend meant she was awarded the “swimmer of the camp.” Her eagerness to always better herself and push hard is something which makes coaching her a joy.

We have already seen the results of the camp at the recent Alloa meet where everyone hit a PB. With the Kingston sprints this weekend, all the coaching staff are looking forward to showing the other clubs how great we have become.

Good luck to all this weekend and here’s wondering where next years camp will be?
